At Towson University, your student will find the academic resources they need to succeed.

They can find resources to help them to choose their major, plan a program of study, improve their study skills, connect with internships, and even find a career. From first-generation students to commuters, your student will get the support they need to make the most of college.

Academic Advising, Retention & Completion Office

The Academic Advising, Retention & Completion Office coordinates advising and provides guidance for undergraduate students throughout their academic career. This office also manages the First-Year Experience (FYE) Advising Program.

Academic Calendar

The dates for the fall, winter, spring and summer terms as well as university holidays are listed on the Academic Calendar.

Academic Commons

The Academic Commons at Cook Library brings essential student support partners together in one location in order to make seeking academic help easy, accessible and visible. Your student will find Advising, Tutoring, Research & Writing Support, Student Tech Services and Accessibility & Disability Testing Center staff collaborating alongside students.

Academic Support for TU Athletes

TU's Athletics Academic Support unit provides advising, counseling, leadership, supervision, monitoring, tutoring, and other services to student-athletes.

Accessibility & Disability Services

Accessibility & Disability Services provides individual services and facilitates accommodations to students with disabilities. The Testing Services Center offers offers extended time, reduced distraction testing spaces, computers and other assistive technology, as well as readers and scribes, as appropriate.

Blackboard

Blackboard Learn is TU's method of delivering fully online, hybrid and web-supported classes.

Career Center

The Career Center provides one-on-one career counseling, self-assessment tests and online resources to help your student discover a career path, master the art of the interview, create an impressive resume, and develop a professional image for a competitive edge.

Cook Library

At the Albert S. Cook Library your student can get help with research, find spaces to study, and access books, journals and media resources. The library's collection includes more than 390,000 books and 950,000 electronic books. Students also have access to over 380 electronic databases and approximately 100,000 electronic and print journals. Special Collections & University Archives offers digital collections, rare books, and historical TU documents and photographs.

Counseling Center

The Counseling Center offers many resources and services related to academics.

Courses and Catalogs

Information about programs of study is published each year in the Undergraduate Catalog and Graduate Catalog. Students can view class schedules and register for classes by logging into Towson Online Services. Read more about Courses & Catalogs.

Graduation

Students who have successfully completed all requirements for an undergraduate or graduate degree are eligible for graduation. Degree candidates may participate in Commencement ceremonies.

Honors College

The Honors College provides a challenging curriculum to meet the unique academic needs and interests of honors students through exceptional faculty mentors and advisers, social and cultural activities, service-learning and study abroad opportunities, and professional development.

National Testing

TU is a National Testing site for various standardized exams, such as the GRE and LSAT.

New Student & Family Programs

New Student & Family Programs oversees orientation programming for all first-year and transfer students.

Placement Testing

Get information about Mathematics Placement Testing (required of all new undergraduate students).

Registrar's Office

The Registrar’s Office serves students in the areas of registration, grades, records and transcripts, re-enrollment, inter-institutional registration, national exchange programs and graduation.

Scholarships & Aid

Many scholarships are awarded based on academic merit. You can find information about academic and merit-based scholarships from the Financial Aid Office.

Student Outreach & Support (SOS)

The Student Outreach and Support team helps students navigate the university’s academic processes and resources.

Students Achieve Goals through Education

The Students Achieve Goals through Education (SAGE) program offers a variety of social and academic activities and support. Your student can also request a SAGE mentor.

Study Abroad

Your student can explore new cultures, broaden their view of the world, and earn credits toward their degree when they choose to study abroad. There are more than 800 programs available, around the world.

Technology Resources

The Office of Technology Services provides technology information, training, resources and support.

Towson Opportunities in STEM

The Towson Opportunities in STEM (TOPS) program is a unique opportunity available to incoming freshmen majoring in science, technology, engineering and mathematics at Towson University. Selected students may qualify for scholarships and other benefits.

Transfer Mentor Program

The Transfer Mentor Program assigns a mentor to help your student explore the many opportunities available at Towson University.

Tutoring & Learning Center

The Tutoring & Learning Center coordinates tutoring, supplemental instruction, peer-assisted learning sessions, academic coaching, study groups, study skills workshops and reading placement testing.

Veterans Benefits

Contact the Military & Veterans Center to get information about VA education benefits, tuition assistance and financial aid.

Writing Center

The Writing Center provides support to all members of the TU community, including undergraduate and graduate students.
