TU Football Ready to Kick Off Season

By the sounds and excitement coming out of Johnny Unitas® Stadium this summer, Towson University is ready for some football.

There are some changes in store this season for the program. New opponents joining the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA), changes coming to Unitas Stadium and fun, new additions coming to the TU game day experience.

Pushing this forward is someone else who is new to TU—first-year athletic director Steve Eigenbrot. Coming from the University of South Carolina, he has a passion for football. And what’s he’s seen so far has him excited to get the season underway.

Here is what fans need to know.

2022 Home Schedule

  • Saturday, Sept. 10 / Kickoff: 7 p.m.
    The Battle for Greater Baltimore vs. Morgan State on Maryland Public Television
    All students will receive a special “Gold Rush” shirt.
  • Saturday, Sept. 24 / Kickoff: 4 p.m.
    Annual Family Weekend game vs. New Hampshire
  • Saturday, Oct. 22 / Kickoff: 4 p.m.
    Homecoming game vs. William & Mary
  • Saturday, Nov. 5 / Kickoff: 2 p.m.
    Military Appreciation game vs. Villanova
  • Saturday, Nov. 19 / Kickoff: 1 p.m.
    Senior Day vs. Hampton

The Tigers will have six away games, including matchups with West Virginia from the Big 12 (Sept. 17), CAA rival Delaware (Oct. 1) and new conference member Monmouth (Oct. 29).

Gameday Experience

TU Athletics has also upped its gameday experience throughout the stadium.

On the track there will be a special, in-game tailgate section and Family Fun Zone. There will also be updates to the in-game production. This includes new and improved video features, new scoreboard layout, new contests and fan promotions and a lot more that can only be experienced at the game.

Tickets

Students have free admission to all home games through the Towson Gameday App.

They can also purchase companion tickets for all home games. Student companion tickets cost $10 each and are general admission, located in the student sections (104–107). To purchase, students must present a valid OneCard at the athletics ticket office (located on the north side of Unitas Stadium).

Towson University faculty and staff can collect two free tickets to all home athletic events by simply showing their OneCard at the ticket office.
